No sauces required, just honest good flavours. The perfect steak. Right I thought, I have heard this before and been let down.
With this in mind we had to go out searching for the this oasis, in steak land. Now I have been to restaurants that have a good reputation had a steak and left feeling cheated. An overcooked piece of meat that does not say med-rare is not were it is at. No matter how much fan fare accompanies it.
The pub nestles in a quaint village not far from Oxford. It is a pleasant drive and now I can say it is well worth the trip. On the way there think of your idea of steak heaven, and go in with high expectations.
The pub is a peaceful place. We were happy to settle in, sit and wait for the food which is prepared from scratch. No microwaves we were told by the father of the chef. Food locally sourced.
I have not had a more tender steak, every mouth full was pure delight. The chips were to die for. Soft and fluffy inside and crispy outside. The dish has no fan fare just honest products that relate into a good plate of food that meets all expectations of a perfect steak and chips.
Oh, they know how to serve a Coniac. Warmed
Needs a second visit for sure.
Enjoy
