Behind this little door

5 October
Port Isaac is such a charming bay. You have to go down on foot as there are narrow streets and no place to park. The view is amazing. The emerald colour of the water and the majestic cliffs that enclose the bay are part of the Beauty of the bay.

Behind this white plain door ( it looks like a magic door that holds a promise of an adventure if you go through). Sadly no hobbits or Fauns  but friendly staff and lots of little corners you could settle down and have  long leisurely meal.  We found our perfect spot out on the patio, with a view of the bay.

We ordered fish and chips. Settled back to enjoy the view. It was perfect, children running around the rocks exploring , gulls swooping down to inspect what ever caught their eye from above. Fishing boats coming and going.

Our food arrived well have look, perfectly cooked  golden chips. The mushy peas had a taste I could not identify it was so good, we are not a fan but it was easy to carry on enjoying eating it. The tartar sauce was a generous helping, and again had a special something added that made it different to any I have eaten before. And yes the star of the dish. The cod served lived up to expectations. Lovely white flakes of flesh, soft and melt in the mouth with every bite.

So if ever you find yourself in Port Isaac keep an eye out for the door step through the opening and turn the handle.......
