Their very own Sunday roast

22 November 2015

Le Kesh, Cowley Road, Oxford

Walking down Cowley Road, on our way to our favourite Indian restaurant for Sunday lunch. We came across a sign out side of Le Kesh, their very own Sunday roast, "Tangia" Moroccan lamb served with potato cubes and sautéed vegetables.

We were torn between trying something new and going  on down the road to Aziz.  It was too tempting not to try. Bravely we pushed open the door  and entered enquiring if they were still serving their Sunday roast, ( it was two in the afternoon). Luckily they were and the waiter offered us a window seat.

While ordering drinks we questioned him about the restaurant and the food . And of course the roast. He kindly answered all queries , two roasts were ordered and we settled down to wait.

Now the magic starts, he brought over a bowl of houmous and thin pieces of  flat bread. I am usually not a fan of houmous but in the spirit of trying something new I had a taste. It had such a delicate flavour and I could not help myself but enjoy eating it. When the waiter came to clear away the now empty plates, we were waiting for the roast with high expectations.

And it delivered. The steaming fragrant tagines had two lamb shanks and dainty pieces of potato in them.
The aroma was unlike anything I could identify. It tasted so lovely, People walking past were commenting on how delicious the food looked. They should have stopped and come in.

There was two lamb shanks left over, I never do but this one time I did not want to leave without having them packed to go. It made the most tasty sandwiches at dinner time.

So don't go walking past , stop and go in. You I'll be glad you did. Enjoy.
