Frankie & Benny's

Sunday morning and time for a breakfast treat  and were else to go,  Brighton of course.  If you leave early enough from Oxford you can get there by 9ish. Not a bad time for breakfast and at the marina, there is free parking which is great and that time of the morning the car park is empty. Park on the 6th floor as that has access to the walk way that takes you across the road straight to the marina and a choice of restaurants. We had it in mind to look about and see what was on offer but the prices at F& B looked like a bargain.

We push open the big glass door and entered into a room that has just the right amount of lighting and at that time of the day was almost empty. The music was not to loud which often happens.

So a good start, ummmm no.  We stood at the front desk looking around to see if there was someone to take us to a table which is there custom. And there was an individual who without looking up and making eye contact reach over to  pass two menus in our direction, continuing to look on the computer screen in front of him. He said" take a seat any where you want."

I was bristling and voicing how rude he was, as we found our seats.

We both decided to have a ham and cheese  four egg omelette, a portion of chips to go with it. Of course two cups of tea.

The tea was brought to us by mister I don't look at my customers. We settled down to wait for breakfast, well we did wait and wait.  With our tea finished we decided we could do with a second cup and indicated to the server to come over so we could put in our order.

Mr server comes over and tells us before we can speak " don't panic your food is on the way". They are so off colour when it comes to customer service.  Don't big companies like this train their staff to be polite to their customers. Anyway it took a second cup of tea to go down before said breakfast arrived.

It was a simple dish cooked perfectly. Light and fluffy. The taste of butter was there and the cheese was just the right amount as was the light pieces of ham.  They put a salsa Verdi on the side salad that is to die for. It had a bit of a bite to it and all round good flavours

They forgot the chips, we have a theory that Mr server did not bother to put it on the order. Of course he blamed the kitchen staff with a wave of his hand and another gem of his wisdom to boot. "it can happen".

Even the doggy servers did not take away from the fact we were looking out at the marina, the sun was shinning. Pete was relaxing from work and we had time to enjoying chatting, eating a distinguished omelette  which quite honestly did all the talking as far as the experience was concerned.

Bring on summer and more experiences of  good food and company. Less of the attitude from servers if you don't like your job, life is too short go get another.
