Magdalen Arms, Iffley Rd, Oxford

Celebrations need good company, good food and a fair amount of good red wine.
There was a lot of that on Saturday when we were treated  by Garth and li to an amazing eating experience.

The restaurant is vibrant and buzzing always a good sign, I think.  If the place is full of happy people laughing and eating then if must be good.

There is a glass of house red waiting when we are shown to our table, thank you s
on.

The starter platter is visually tempting, we all just dived in and there was a lot of yumm and this is good, so tasty. It set the tone of the meal not only enjoying eating it but talking about food .We were half way through when I realised that I had not taken a photo. Hence the half eaten plate which did not last much longer.

The star of the show is the lamb which was tender and juicy, just look at how perfect it looks. Carrots and onions  cooked in with the meat. This dish is accompanied with dauphinoise potatoes and pickled cabbage.  The potatoes was covered in garlic butter, tasty and rich in flavour. Having the cabbage  is a good idea as it cuts through the richness of the potato dish.

Ali said that she wished her stomach was larger so she could just keep eating it tasted that amazing and there was grunts of agreement all round as we were all busy picking on the left over dishes. They happily package the left overs for you take home.

We sat so long chatting and enjoying the food we had to vacate the table, We decided to move outside and enjoy some cocktails.  Prosecco and rhubarb fizz, it was sharp but light and fresh.

Later a short walk to Gary's home and we settled down to a  gin and tonic, then more reminiscing about the lamb, the potatoes, the cabbage, the starter. We all agreed that another visit in the near future was on the cards. What a great way to cement a new friendship and create great moments .

Need another reason to celebrate or we could just celebrate good food.
