Monday night, not had a chance to tidy the kitchen and get dinner started. Too busy getting my dinning room chairs finished. It has to be time to try out the Farmshop at Bicester recommended by Peter ( another Peter) who used to be a waiter at Carluccio's back in the day.
So with our discount card ( provided by Peter) in my purse, off we went. It was a great surprise to see some old friends working there. So there was a lot of catching up, children have gotten older, grandchildren in the mix. Legs have mended and football days are over. Just so great to catch up.
And then to business at hand. A simple menu with a lot of favourites on. With the order being prepared there is nothing else left to do but sit back and sip on a glass of Pinot Grigio.,and take in the surroundings. The restaurant is very cosy, comfortable and snug.
With calamari on the menu it was a no brainer. We love calamari and we always score it out of 10, this one got an impressive 9. The fare that was set before us, was cooked to perfection with prawns, chillies and there was a delicate taste of coriander. The aioli completed the dish.
Pete had the ham, egg and chips. I had a taste of the ham, I will definitely be having that next time. Whatever you do, have the chips. they are the best chips I have ever eaten. They dish up a load.
We were encouraged to have the apple pie, it taste like mom used to make, we were told.
You must try the apple pie. They literary bring the whole pie to the table and dish up as much as you want . From the first mouth full there is an explosion of spice. It is sumptuous. The apples aren't over cooked. It is so comforting to eat on a cold winters night.
