The Old Parsonage Oxford

16 January 2015
Breakfast
Often on the ride back from Oxford on the way to Red bridge park and ride we see the shinny plaque and end up thinking the same thoughtWe had always wanted to go to the Old Parsonage for breakfast but never got there. This is it we are actually going to get off the bus a stop earlier and cross the road and head for the very shinny plaque on the wall  placed next to the entrance. Stepping through the gate into the court yard you just cannot help but stop and take in the grand, beautiful building.  There is a garden with sculptured trees, tables and  seats for sitting outside a water feature on the wall that gives of a soft tinkle of water.  There are old Dutch bikes for hire to the side of the court yard. It is  a very peaceful and delicate setting, you forget there is one of the busiest roads in Oxford city just the other side of the wall.
Once inside there was a log fire going and a warm reception as we were directed to a table. The modern and old mix very well in this dinning room.  All the tables have a black glass top that reflects and shows off  the table setting.

We ordered tea which came in great big pots, so lots of refills just perfect.  Lotus ordered hot chocolate . A bread box arrived at the same time, there was two types of jam and  slices of toast to nibble while waiting for breakfast.

Egg Benedict cooked just right and the sauce was light. Lotus had mushrooms bacon and a fried egg and judging by the face and empty plate she must have enjoyed it.  Pete had fried eggs on toast, he said it was cooked to perfection.

I had my grand daughter with me who rose to the occasion and the atmosphere, and behaved impeccably. But if you are looking for a great atmosphere, a place to contemplate years gone by. It is an adult place to go enjoy a quite meal served with just the right amount of fuss.

I took a picture of the bathroom it was so clean and smelt so lovely . I could not resist.
