The King's Arms - Bicester

End of the month and we were ready for a special treat. We had been to The Kings Arms before and the food was very nice and presented to high standard with that in mind we thought we would give it another try.

The only thing that has kept us from going back was the annoying manager, he was so pretentious, it was very cringe worthy listening to him having a go at the waitress. We knew their standard of food was good so we were going to give it another try and if we are lucky he would be on a day off. Whew! lucky us they have new young friendly staff.

We had not booked but they found us a table. The menu was not overly large and had a good selection to choose from.

Salt and Pepper Szechuan Squid with Chilli and Lime Mayo, (description is copied from their menu) it was cooked to perfection. The flavours worked together and left us wishing there was more. But we knew the roast was to come and we waited with great expectation.

Roast Sirloin of Beef, Yorkshire Pudding, Glazed Parsnip, Thyme Roast Potatoes £15.95 ( description is copied from their menu)

When the roast was placed on the table a couple of things were immediately stood out the gravy was dark and rich not that watery stuff that gets drizzled on the plate in so many places and the Yorkshire pudding was huge.

I could not wait to taste the gravy hoping it was as tasty as it looked, it did not disappoint, it had flavour. Yorkshire pudding was light and fluffy. The main part of the dish the beef was tender, it went well with the vegetables which were cooked just right.

I nearly forgot about the potatoes. Yes, they need a dedicated section in this effort to portray what you would imagine to be the three perfect golden globes, cooked fluffy inside but crispy outside to just the right consistency.

We definitely made the right choice to go and have our Sunday lunch  at The King's Arms, I would highly recommend it or maybe I shouldn't because it will get too busy, which will not leave any spare tables for popping in on a Sunday for one of the best Sunday Roasts we have eaten

Their chefs defiantly have a passion for food, add to that a comfortable atmosphere that always makes for a great place to go out for a spoil.
