Le Pain Quotidien - Bicester Village

The daily bread

This restaurant has a homely atmosphere it is buzzing with friendly staff seeing to the needs of the dinners. The one thing that jumps out when we where shown to our seat is the huge table set down the middle of the restaurant. Having looked at their website it is part of their philosophy. Getting together over a meal and letting time slow down.

There is a story behind the start of the chain of restaurants and the bread that is used as a canvas - a description used on their website, for every meal. Sam our server said that products used are sourced locally.

We ordered a meat platter with a avocado each and the bread basket came with the meal.

The platter was generous and had interesting flavours added , their was loads of capers, the onions had a bright pink colour to them what ever they were soaked in gave them a sweet sour taste and there was sliced chicory that added crunchy texture to the dish. A selection of continental and British meats which was the star of the show.

The drinks are fresh fruits that are made every day. Bottled water sourced  from Blenheim Palace.

I ordered tea and was delighted at the large bowl served to drink from, It was so comforting holding the bowl with both hands sipping my perfect tea.

I think the calm atmosphere gives you a chance to take time out to chat, enjoy the food and reflect on life. Marcela, the general manager said they are thinking about setting up a jazz evening

You should go with someone special or invite loads of friends to sit at the long table to catch up and enjoy exciting food that you know is made with the best ngredients that can be found by someone who cares about what goes on the plate.
